Do you use sermon illustrations to connect your topic with a related video? This is a great method to break people out of their regular listening mode and use an interactive and compelling way of communicating.

There are many ways to make this happen. You can embed video into your presentation from YouTube, Vimeo or Tangle.com to bring in humorous or poignant ideas that will help you make your point. The recent phenomenon of Susan Boyle on the Britain’s Got Talent show in the UK was used by many to successfully get the point across not to judge a book by its cover. You can also record your own videos or have your youth put together some fun and insightful interviews with people in your Church on a particular theme you are covering. The ideas are limitless!

For Independence Day, Sharefaith has created a beautiful and stirring Christian music video to show your faith in God and your love of this great nation we live in. The short film brings out the words we use in relation to our freedom and liberty and leads to the ultimate thought that we are One Nation, Under God as we state in our pledge. On July 1st, Sharefaith is joining in the Twitter For Food campaign and encouraging people to skip one meal on July 1st and use the savings to fund a world hunger organization. Twitter For Food was started by one of our Sharefaith team members to bring awareness and connection to the people around the world facing starvation. Did you know that over 18,000 children die of hunger every day around the world? You can help by bringing awareness to the campaign with your Twitter account or create your own campaign for funding your favorite hunger relief organization locally or globally.

As Flag Day approaches, it’s a good time to remember to pray for our leaders and our country. The founding fathers understood the power of prayer. One can see their prayers and petitions laced through their writings and speeches along with including God in official documents. Our current social climate has drifted away from this practice, but as people of the Church we should stand strong in prayer. When we are bombarded with bad news about the economy, war, poverty and disasters, the people of God can have courage and take heart knowing that He is in control.
